When thinking of higher education many thoughts float around about it being unsettling and uncontrollable, although some see the true values of the process of higher education. I see a higher education as something that will benefit some if they want too but won’t help others if they don’t want it. I mean that if someone wants to be a doctor they would want a higher education but if someone would want to be a mechanic they might not want to receive a higher education even if it might benefit them in the future.
As Ronald Barnett states in his passage “ A higher education experience is not complete unless the student realizes that, no matter how much effort is put in, or how much library research, there are no final answers.”I feel that this quote is a very good example of what I mean. For some people they want to keep asking questions and finding answer, but for others they might not want to do that they might want to find the answer and not question it to find other answers.
In passage two when Martha Nussbaum speaks she is saying how a higher education is meant for everyone no matter what you want to weather it be a doctor or mechanic they should seek a higher education because they will learn new and interesting things and they will use their brain more actively and be a better critical thinker and have more of an impact in this world.
These points are why i think certain people chose and don’t chose to get a high education, it comes down to how you value knowledge if you always want to learn and keep getting better by asking more question and answer or if you want keep learning new things, Or if you think you don’t need knowledge and you think you have all the answer. That is why I think the higher education is there only if you want and why you shouldn’t be made to pursue a higher education.
